What is the Kindertransport:

These are the facts that first got me thinking about the story

After Kristallnacht, a mass riot burning across Germany, British parliament was alerted to the plight of Jewish citizens. In what would become known as the Kindertransport, ten thousand children escaped to England prior to the start of WW2. The Kindertransport was sanctioned by Adolf Hitler in November of 1938. The first transport left for England shortly thereafter. For a fifty pound sterling bond per child, England would receive the children. The last Kindertransport left Germany on September 1st. 1939, just two days before England entered the war. The children were put in foster homes or group homes. Some worked on the farms, while others joined the army when they were able. Most of the children never saw their parents again.
